Growing up in the vibrant arts communities of Saugatuck and Douglas, creativity was woven into everyday life. I attended Saugatuck Public High School, where art education was a cornerstone of the curriculum. By my senior year, I had the opportunity to spend most of each school day immersed in four art classes, building a portfolio that ultimately led me to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I earned my degree in Interior Architecture. That experience challenged me to think differently about space, color, composition, and the emotional impact of design—principles that continue to guide my work today.
After graduating, I spent 17 years designing residential interiors throughout the Chicago area. Those years allowed me to collaborate with incredible clients and develop a design approach that is both highly personal and thoughtfully curated. After starting a family, we returned home to Saugatuck, where I founded NV Interiors. It has been incredibly rewarding to design in the community that shaped me—reconnecting with longtime clients while welcoming new homeowners to the area.
I believe the most memorable interiors tell a story. They aren't assembled from a single style or trend—they evolve through layers of color, texture, pattern, and meaningful objects collected over time. I have always been drawn to unexpected color combinations, the richness that comes from mixing materials, and the balance that thoughtful pattern play can bring to a room. My goal is to create homes that feel artistic, collected, and deeply personal, reflecting the people who live in them rather than a passing trend.
Some of my favorite projects begin with a challenge. I love discovering new possibilities within existing spaces—finding creative, unexpected ways to improve the way a home functions while revealing its hidden potential. Whether it's transforming an awkward corner into a favorite reading nook, reimagining an underused room, or uncovering opportunities clients hadn't considered, these design puzzles are where I feel most inspired.
I also believe the most meaningful homes honor the past while embracing the present. Heirloom furniture, treasured artwork, and sentimental pieces deserve more than a place in storage. I enjoy breathing new life into these beloved objects—refinishing, reupholstering, or thoughtfully incorporating them into a fresh design so they continue to be enjoyed for generations while reflecting your personal style.
Above all, I believe great design should feel approachable, collaborative, and enjoyable. Whether you're refreshing a single room, renovating your existing home, planning an addition, or building from the ground up, my goal is to guide you through a creative process that feels exciting rather than overwhelming. Together, we'll create a home that is beautiful, functional, and unmistakably yours.
I'd love the opportunity to learn about your project and help bring your vision to life.

“She was a dream to work with. Our project involved the gutting of a 100+ year old house. She worked with us to furnish our first floor and design wall coverings for upstairs bathrooms. We have been thrilled with the process from conception to inception with her. The design and layout of the rooms has been perfect and the actual pieces of furniture, exactly what we needed. Nancy does a great job listening to you, the client, and really hearing what you need. She helped to push us in directions that we may not have thought of that turned out beautifully!”
“Nancy made furnishing my condo a wonderful experience! She really listened to me and understood my budget, style and needs. Her presentations were beautiful. She is so talented, warm, kind, and professional. I highly recommend her. You won’t be disappointed! ”
“Nancy has been an absolute joy to work with. From our very first meeting- she really listened to me and helped perfect the vision we had for our new home. She is talented, professional, approachable, and very creative. I really trusted her opinions and we couldn’t have accomplished this without her. She coordinated multiple rooms from top to bottom- window treatments to furnishings to floor coverings. The process was smooth and fun and not overwhelming. Highly recommend!”
